Being from Thousand Oaks (just inland from Malibu), we always love the opportunity to do a little Malibu wedding photography. It also didn’t hurt that Connie + Ted’s wedding was pretty much top to bottom gorgeous. I mean, come on! That dress!?!?!? Geez! Connie must have known that we are total suckers for lace dresses around here! The pastel floral colors with pops of yellow, groomsmen wearing funky socks, laughter, fun, and. a. S’MORES. BAR!!! It was all there and we loved photographing it! But, don’t let our swooning over their details detract from the fact that we loved shooting Connie + Ted and, for that matter, all of their wedding party and guests! Connie + Ted are super nice people and it seemed like no matter where we turned at this wedding, there were just more and more super nice people! Everyone and everything was absolutely lovely and this Calamigos Ranch wedding was yet another reminder of how amazing it is that we get to do what we do! :)

RJ Carbone - Excellent exposure for the exterior and wedding shots. So warm and organic, the background, glowing and radiating, showers benevolent rays of light on the newlywed couple. I also loved the great use of focus in a lot of the pics. Fantastic photos!ReplyCancel

A little while back we were contacted by the ever-so-awesome Sharon of Knot Just Flowers about collaborating for a styled inspiration session for brides. We were so excited to brainstorm ideas for the shoot and help get the team together to make her vision come to life. The shoot was recently featured on Style Me Pretty California so now we get to share it here! Big thanks to our awesome associate Loretta who shot this with me (Marianne). Be sure to check out the awesome list of vendors who gave their time and talent to make this happen!

We love our couples. It’s no secret. We have a darn good time with every single person we shoot with because THEY are awesome and every one of them is different and lovable. No exception for Whitney and Tom. They are down to earth, silly, fun and up for doing whatever needs to be done to get some awesome photos. We really appreciated their commitment to Sparkle Motion (and we REALLY appreciate anyone who understands that reference). The first time we got to meet them was at their engagement session (aside from a few phone calls and skype chats) and it felt like we had hung out many times before. We are over the moon excited for their wedding coming up next weekend at Firestone Vineyard! :)

So…as we were talking with Lauren and Chad about their engagement session and coming up with ideas to make it totally “them” Lauren mentioned that Chad was a firefighter and she would love to have a firefighter engagement session (she liked the idea of a romantic rescue). Our first reply to their firefighter engagement session ideas mayyy have been asking if there was any way we could safely do a controlled fire for the shoot. We knew it was a long shot for a firefighter engagement session to include an epic real fire. But our imaginations went wild and we had to ask! Although the fire was out of the question for many reasons (not the least of which being that California has done nothing but burn all year long!), we had a great time shooting with them both in the hills of Malibu. Above and beyond their epic engagement session ideas, Lauren and Chad are like professionals at all other aspects of awesomeness. They will be so romantic and sweet with one another one minute and then be laughing their butts off the next. They completely nailed every spot on the awesomeness spectrum! :)

Obviously, we are looking forward to seeing Lauren + Chad again at their Newport Beach wedding later this year!
