Shooting the ever-so-awesome Abigail + Steve at their Malibu Hills and Beach engagement session brought us full circle to almost the very beginning of Marianne Wilson Photography! “How is that?” you ask. Great question you awesome and intelligent reader! :)

Come with us on a journey back in time.

Once upon a time in a shopping center about three miles from here, long before we were blessed to be full time wedding photographers and long before we were married, Marianne had to support the fledgling Marianne Wilson Photography business by working as a Peets Coffee & Tea Barista. Arduously working alongside Marianne at 4:00 a.m. opening shifts and an epic sister in the constant fight against the plague of a cluttered product area was the super sweet and sassy Abigail. From that time, long lost in history, to this very day Abigail and her family have been our greatest supporters. They check out every blog post. They comment all the time. They tell us that our photos make them cry tears of joy, which makes us blush, which is pretty awesome all around.

So, when we got an email from Abigail saying that she was engaged to Steve and wanted to talk about having us shoot her wedding… well… we are not ashamed to say that we did a happy dance.

Ok, before you read all of the words above the photos in this post (to the 2 of you who believe in delayed gratification and actually read the words before skipping to the good stuff), go take a good long look at the photos. Check out how cute they are together. So much love. Go for it! We’ll wait. Come back when you are done.

… Waiting …

… Waiting …

… Waiting …

Ok, now for the big reveal: Scott had a nearly broken ankle for this entire shoot! Yeah. Let that one marinade in the ol’ noggin for a while. If you know the Abbot Kinney and Venice areas in these photos, you know that he covered a lot of ground. I mean, we have had some grooms who were real troopers. But, holy cow! He hobbled all over Venice with a huge smile on his face and not even searing pain could hide the love he has for Jennifer. It was absolutely heart warming to see them together. So, NOW do you all see what we mean when we say our couples are awesome!?!?!?

Every once in a while we have a couple who timidly asks “do you think it would be possible for us to incorporate our dog into our engagement session?” Our answer: “YES! Absolutely yes!” We absolutely love your four legged friends and we think that there is nothing that can instantly drive up the cute/sentimental factor of an engagement session like your pup! We have a little puppy pal of our own and understand they are very much a part of your family. With that said, we are very happy to introduce Annie, Richard and Enzo!
