Marie and Nick are so awesome!!!!!!!!!

Ok. I am glad I got that out of my system. But seriously, these two are the types of people you want to be best friends with after just spending a few hours with them. Joe and I had a ton of fun frolicking around the hills of Malibu and learning all sorts of fun facts about the location from Nick (a local from where we were shooting) and learning more about them. We are so freaking stoked to be shooting their Walnut Grove wedding coming up later this year!

So, here’s the deal with this couple: Lee won American Idol in 2010 and Jonna is an actress and model, but Lee and Jonna are so, so, SO very much more than those labels and we feel so blessed to have been a part of their wedding day.

Lee and Jonna are seriously such genuine, sweet, creative and ridiculously in love people! As you will see below, they had an amazing wedding filled with absolutely gorgeous details. More importantly, we can say with 100% honesty that there were several times during their wedding day when we (both Marianne and Joe) were getting totally misty because the emotion was just so genuine, spontaneous, and unexpectedly raw.

Watching Jonna dance with her Grandma (who was in a wheelchair for almost all of the rest of the day) to “My Girl” while her Grandma happily and softly sang to Jonna as they gently swayed was so ridiculously cute! Then the song asked “who can make me feel this way?” and Jonna’s Grandma looked Jonna right in the eye, pointed directly at her, and answered with conviction: “My girl!” Wow! What a moment! THEN Lee started dancing with them and Jonna stepped aside and it was just Lee and Grandma dancing as the next chorus asked “who can make me feel this way?” Again, Grandma pointed right at Lee and proudly sang out “My boy.” My goodness! I’m getting all teary-eyed just writing about it!!!

As part of his toast, Jonna’s Dad struggled to keep it together as he sang a song that he sang to her as a little girl: “The Pickers are Comin’.'” Go check out the lyrics to that song and imagine your Dad singing it to you at your wedding. Waterworks were flowing like nobody’s business!

Later in the evening Lee (a person who has performed in front of MILLIONS of people LIVE) played his guitar and sang the song that he wrote for his bride. It was a beautiful song and a beautiful moment by itself. But when he had to stop a couple of times to take a breath and laugh off the fact that he was getting a little choked up, it was just… yeah. You get it.

The day was absolutely filled with these moments and it was so amazing to be there to experience it.

Jessica and Mike love music, the beach, their family and friends and most of all Jessica and Mike love each other. You might remember these two from their rockin musical engagement session in Venice beach and you may have seen a few of their photos on their feature in Style Unveiled. Just as they infused their engagement session with their love for music they brought that love into many aspects of their beautiful Adamson House wedding in Malibu. Their tables were named after their favorite musicians, their friends’ band played their first dance song, they used a guitar as a guestbook, and they even recorded a cd together and used it as their favors/escort cards (you might remember the photo from the cd cover as one from their engagement session). But! One of our favorite musical touches was how Mike surprised Jess as they walked back up the aisle as man and wife by having friends scattered through the crowd playing guitar together (they played “I Gotta Feeling” by the black Eyed Peas)! How cool is that?!

It was a blast getting to know these two and shooting with them!
